Admin Center Layout
Top  Previous  Next

Depending on how you access the admin center, navigating around, and the general layout can be different. We will show a screen shot here of both versions of the admin center. Regardless of how you access the "main" admin area, the individual components and functions are the same. The principle difference is in the main interface, and how you get to it.. Below are screen shots and explanations of both interfaces to get you acquainted. Hereafter in the documentation, we'll be referring to "The Admin Center" as a general term, and describing the various functions within it ... these functions are the same for both admin interfaces.

1. The Web Based Admin Center

The Web Based admin center can be accessed by any computer with a web browser and an internet connection.
To open it, use your web browser to navigate to the "admin.php" program on your web server (ie: http://www.yourdomain.com/search/admin.php). and then Login.

Below is a screen shot of what your admin center will look like after logging in. Note that yours will differ slightly from the image below, depending on whether or not you have written any "Notes" to yourself, the date, etc.

The admin center is divided into 4 major areas:

1. The "Admin Tools" section in the upper left corner, contains links to system wide administrative settings such as templates, languages, permissions, etc.

2. The "Applications" section in the lower left corner contains links to the various applications' admin centers, to allow you to administer each application individually. This section is "smart" in that it will remember what you were doing the last time you had logged in, and will be "expanded" automatically for you.

3. The "Title" section is the blue text on the top of the right side of the screen. It will tell you where you are in the system.

4. The "Work" frame is where the actual administrative functions are run. In the screen shot below, it's telling us that we have an SQL Patch to run. Nearly everything that you actually "do" will be done in this area. as you click on admin functions in either the "Tools" or "Applications" area, these functions will open up in the work frame.

2. The Windows Admin Center

The Windows Admin center is a Microsoft Windows application that can only be run on the computer where it was installed. To open it, choose the "Hyperseek Admin Center" option from the "Hyperseek" area of your computer's "Start" Menu.

Once it's opened, choose the admin center you wish to work with from the drop down list on the upper right side of the window. If you are running more than one copy of Hyperseek (on multiple domains), you can use this one application to manage all of your Hyperseek installations. You can add a pointer to your other installs by choosing the "<< New Admin Center >>" option from the drop list. Doing this, you'll be prompted to "Name" the new admin center to something useful, as well as to provide the full URL to the "admin.php" application on the web site. (Note that the first time you open the Windows Admin Center, you'll be prompted to add an admin center automatically).

Once you select an admin center, the Login dialogue box will appear. You will need to login to your admin center to start working.

Below is a screen shot of what your admin center will look like after logging in. Note that yours will differ slightly from the image below, depending on whether or not you have written any "Notes" to yourself, the date, etc.

The admin center is divided into 6 major areas:

1. The "Menu" at the top will get you any of the administrative functions, including the setup options, reports, hyperseek, etc. Effectively, the menu area of the Windows admin is akin to the Tools and Applications areas of the Web Based admin center.

2. The "Admin Center Selector" in the upper left allows you to flip between the admin areas of multiple Hyperseek installations, if you have more than one license.

3. The "Queue" section, immediately below the Admin Center Drop down list, shows you any items that demand your immediate attention, such as listings or bids that need to be approved, deposits or withdrawals that need review, etc. This will reload itself every few minutes, so that you're always "in touch" with what's going on in your system.

4. The "Information" will display tips, tricks, and help information as you navigate around the system.

6. The "Navigation Buttons" above the work frame allow you to move backwards and forwards as you would with your regular browser.
