Admin Tools
Top  Previous  Next

The "Admin Tools" section in the upper left corner, contains links to system wide administrative settings such as templates, languages, permissions, etc. (If you are using the Windows admin center, these items will be in the menu area) The basic functionality of each link is described below.

Home
The Admin link in the upper left is akin to the "Home" button of your web browser. It will restore the admin center to its "home base".

Preferences
Each JJS Software & Consulting program has many options and settings that drive the manner in which they function. This button will load the Settings Menu into the main frame, and will allow you to change any or all of the system settings, for the various parts of the system.

Languages
Every word you see when working within the admin center or when viewing the "front end" (user side) of the system is driven by a set of Language Variables. Using the language link, you can change any word or phrase (even the text of the buttons in the Menu Bar) in the system.

Custom Plugins
The User Interface of Hyperseek is completely template driven. Within the templates, you insert special JJS Plugin HTML tags to represent certain parts of the program output. The Plugins button allows you to define your own custom plugins for use within your templates. This will open the Custom Plugin Editor, where you define, edit and test your plugins.

Upgrades
Clicking the versions button will initiate a system check of your current set of applications and libraries, and will do a live checkup with the master Hyperseek server, to see if you are completely up to date with the latest shipping versions of the applications that you have installed. The version checker will give you the opportunity to automatically upgrade your system.

Permissions
Critical to your system working properly, especially if you are running from a Unix or Linux based web server, are proper permissions on your files. All program files must be set as "executable" and all files in the data directory must be world readable and world writeable, so that the program files have the authority to make changes to them as needed. This admin function will properly set the permissions for you.

Templates
This will open the Template Editor, allowing you to work on your page templates and your internal (sub) templates, so that you can fully define the look and feel of your application as the user sees it.

Server Config
This is a simple diagnostic utility that will tell you some basic information about your system. Our technical support staff will often ask you to run this utility and forward the output to them, so that they may assist in troubleshooting a problem with you.
