The JJS Software & Consulting Windows Based Installer is the easiest way to ensure that your programs are properly installed....
1. Launch the auto installer
Run "setup.exe" after unzipping the distribution into a temporary location on your personal computer
2. Follow the on-screen prompts
This a typical "Windows" Installation program. This will install the necessary applications and documentation onto your personal computer, and will create a "Hyperseek" program group in your start menu.
3. Launch the Web Site Installer
The Web Site installer will start automatically after the main installation is complete, if you check the box to launch it. If do not launch it immediately, at a later time, you may navigate In your Start Menu to "Hyperseek", and then choose the "Install Hyperseek to Web server" option.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts (Explained Below)
The first thing you'll see is the "Welcome" screen. If this is a new installation, it will look exactly like the picture below. If you are doing an upgrade, or installing a second time, this screen will prompt you to do either a "Fresh" installation, or will show you a list of servers that you've installed to before, for you to pick from.
After you've hit the "Next" button the welcome screen, you'll be asked whether you'll be installing to a remote server or locally. In all cases, you should choose the "Remote Server" option.
Next, you will be presented with the Remote Server Details form. On this form, enter the FTP Address, Login ID, and Password for your web server. For the "Package Install Folder", enter the path, relative to your login directory, where the programs should be installed. For example, if, when you login to your server, the directory you are in is "/home/yourloginid/", and beneath that, you have an "htdocs" directory where your website "starts" .. all you need to enter in the "Install Folder" option on the form is "htdocs".
The installer will default to a installing the programs into a sub directory called "search" under the directory you have entered (as shown below). If you wish to install into a different directory of your web server, hit the "Advanced" button on the form.
The "Advanced" button allows you to change the name of the final directory from "search" to something else. You can leave it blank to specify your own path by hand on the Previous screen. You can also use this form to tell the installer to work a little bit faster (or slower, depending on your connection speed).
Once your details are entered, the system will do a quick login check, to ensure that it can successfully FTP to your server, and that all of the paths you've entered are correct. If everything is fine, you'll be presented with this screen, which confirms your settings, and asks you for the URL to the target directory on your server. The installer will use this to test the setup, as well as to install the loaders for the application, where needed. Hit the "Next" button to perform the actual installation of files to your server.
When the files have all been uploaded to the server, you'll be alerted that the installation of files is complete.
So, now what....
You may now open up your web browser, and navigate to the "admin.php" application on your website. Assuming you've installed into the "search" directory, the URL would be http://www.yourdomain.com/search/admin.php
This will open up the Browser Based Setup Utility, which will get your database setup for operation.
