Before you hit the support site we and get the in depth details on how to set up and use Hyperseek, we would like to offer you a few set up guidelines. We have provided links to different sections within the Documentation to assist you, but you should read the full documentation for more detailed information.

To set up your site, you will need to do the following things:

Set up your Preferences
Under the Admin Tools section click on Preferences. Here you will see a variety of links load in the main screen. Go through each link and choose the options that fit the unique way you would like to run your search engine. Make sure you go through ALL your preferences. They must be set for your site to function the way you want it to.

If you are unsure what a particular option is, click the "?"on any preferences setting to find out more about what that option is.

*** Remember, if you're not sure how to set a preference, you can always go back and change that preference in the future.

Set up your Language files
Under the Admin Tools section click on Languages. Here you will see three tabs load in the main screen. You need to go through your language files to set up your site. The tabs in this section are:

Word Translations
These allow you to manipulate nearly every word (including the words "Word Translations" on that tab) that Hyperseek displays on your site. In most cases, the default values will be fine, but in those instances where you want to really personalize the admin center or the front end, you can use these to change wording without having to edit the program files directly.

Table/Form Prompts
This is a shortened, simplified version of the full SQL Database Schema Editor. In short, it will allow you to control the text and requirements on all forms Hyperseek creates, such as the Add URL form, and Create Account form.

Synonyms and Lexical Searching
This will allow you to define word relationships between search terms within Hyperseek, and for bidding.
For example, you might start with the root word "car", and enter the following synonyms: car, caar, caars, auto, autos, automobile, automobiles, automobil, dodge, chevy, ford, Toyota

Plugins
What is a Plugin? - Basic understanding of what Plugins are and how they work.
Custom Plugins - You don't need to do anything here unless you are creating a custom plugin. The software comes installed with all the standard plugins.

Templates
Your software is completely template driven. You need to set up your templates to control the look and feel of your site. There are 2 types of templates in the system:

Page Templates
These are the entire HTML that make up the look and feel you want for each page to look like.
See -- How Pages are Drawn and Page Templates

Internal Templates
Internal Templates to allow you to control the look and feel of all the items that display within the page templates and this is also where the emails Hyperseek sends out are stored. There are several kinds of Internal Templates in the "Accounts', "Hyperseek" and "Jackhammer" Internal Template Sections. Go through them all and make any changes you desire.

Link Templates allow you to "Draw" the way listings appear in the search engine. There are several types of link templates, check them all out and read the documentation for more details

Category Templates allow you to customize the layout of the categories.

Bid Screen Templates allow you to customize the bidding screens in the Advertisers Account Manager

Link List Templates (not to be confused with Link Templates) allow you to customize the way Advertisers listings are displayed to them within the Advertiser Account Manager.

Financial Templates allow you to control the way the "Financial Status" screen looks to Advertisers.

Email Templates allow you to customize the text in the emails that go out to your Advertisers.

Themes – Don't worry about this right now. It is a more advanced topic

These are the items you need to do for your site to be fully operational. There are many more options and features that you will see in the Documentation. The Documentation will go in to greater detail on how to configure these options. The Knowledge Base contains answers to questions you might have as well as tips and tricks. After you read the documentation, if you still have a question, please feel free to visit our Newsgroups and post questions to our support staff. You can also search the newsgroups to see if your question has already been asked and answered.
