You need to set up your logging preferences. It's a good idea to turn your search logs on. Unless there is a problem with the way your software is functioning, I don't recommend you turn on the debug log. It gets really big, really fast. The Monthly Merge Tables will provide you with a lot of information, read the documentation for a better understanding of how they work.
